Luke 2 1-7: In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
Comment: I can do no better than quote two magnificent verses from a Charles Wesley carol. It expresses my desire to worship the New Born King so well….
1. Let earth and Heaven combine,
Angels and men agree,
To praise in songs divine
The incarnate Deity,
Our God contracted to a span,
Incomprehensibly made man.
2. He laid His glory by,
He wrapped Him in our clay;
Unmarked by human eye,
The latent Godhead lay;
Infant of days He here became,
And bore the mild Immanuel’s name.
Prayer: I bow in worship to You my Saviour King.
Thank you Barry for your comments in this passage. The carol I felt appropriate was the words that say, “Veiled in flesh the Godhead see, Hail the Incarnate Deity.” “And The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14. God bless you.
