Psalm 60: 8-12….Wandering thoughts!

8 Moab is my washbasin;
upon Edom I cast my shoe;
over Philistia I shout in triumph.”
9 Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
10 Have you not rejected us, O God?
You do not go forth, O God, with our armies.
11 Oh, grant us help against the foe,
for vain is the salvation of man!
12 With God we shall do valiantly;
it is he who will tread down our foes.

Comment: v8 Presumably we are supposed to interpret the poetry in which God speaks. Three nations are derided and subjected to cries of victory over them. The Israeli enemies are dealt with! vs 9&10 Apparently Edom was the enemy at the moment. The psalm started out with their desperate position and here they are calling on God this time to go with them into battle. vs 11&12 They continue to plead God’s help but in the end they have come to a shout of hoped victory because of God’s Presence and Help! This sounds a record of typical human response to our need for Help from above; it seems a good way to go!

Prayer: Thank You that I don’t have to walk alone into the future.
