But I am afflicted and in pain; let your salvation, O God, set me on high!
I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.
This will please the LORD more than an ox or a bull with horns and hoofs.
When the humble see it they will be glad; you who seek God, let your hearts revive.
For the LORD hears the needy and does not despise his own people who are prisoners.
Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and everything that moves in them.
For God will save Zion and build up the cities of Judah, and people shall dwell there and possess it;
the offspring of his servants shall inherit it, and those who love his name shall dwell in it.
Comment: The psalm began with cries of desperation but ends with tumultuous praise. I can imagine the trumpets blasting and the cymbals clashing, the choir singing in the background, David quoting the psalm loudly and clearly. If I look hard, looking upwards, I think that I can see God, cupping His hand to His ear listening to the noise below and smiling gently as He hears His people worshipping! You see lots of hooves and horns lying around the place of sacrifice but thankfulness and praise outshine them!
Prayer: Please lead me through the trials of life to praise and thankfulness, my Father.
