The LORD said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” So he went and met him at the mountain of God and kissed him. And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD with which he had sent him to speak, and all the signs that he had commanded him to do. Then Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the people of Israel. Aaron spoke all the words that the LORD had spoken to Moses and did the signs in the sight of the people. And the people believed; and when they heard that the LORD had visited the people of Israel and that he had seen their affliction, they bowed their heads and worshiped.
Comment: You may wonder why I sometimes remove the verse numbers from the passage with which we are dealing. Firstly, they were not there originally although they are very handy in sharing where you are reading in a class or to restart from the same point tomorrow. But here I am dealing with a slab of text which is dealing with one issue. Yesterday it was getting Moses ready for his task. Today it prepares the ground for Aaron and for the Israeli leadership, still in place although they were as a nation in a position of slavery. It says that the leaders were very positively responsive, but I wonder if that will stay the same if things don’t go smoothly with Moses’ project!
Prayer: Thank You that You never leave us nor forsake us even though You lead us through some pretty rough patches, O Lord.
