And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time. The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood. But the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth. Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea.
Comment: I don’t understand exactly the time-line of all of these things. I think that this covers the period from the time of the birth of Jesus until sometime in the future when Satan ‘the Accuser’ (at present) is thrown out of heaven as seen yesterday. After Jesus ascended into heaven the Jews have had a very tough time! They were thrown by various rulers out of the their land and were scattered over much of the world. As I understand it the Romans, the various Middle Eastern countries, and now even the United Nations give the Jews a hard time. Antisemitism is worldwide. And I guess that I am saying, and I certainly believe, that Satan has his agents in High Places and he even manipulates common folk, like you and me, to vote into positions of authority governments and agencies who are more than prepared to be used by him (Satan). I am glad that he has his feet on the sand – it reminds me of Jesus’ parable about not building on the sand if you want something to last!
Prayer: Thank You that one of the strong elements of Christianity is a ‘Sure and Certain Hope’!
