Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying,
“So will Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence, and will be found no more; and the sound of harpists and musicians, of flute players and trumpeters,
will be heard in you no more, and a craftsman of any craft will be found in you no more, and the sound of the mill will be heard in you no more, and the light of a lamp will shine in you no more, and the voice of bridegroom and bride will be heard in you no more, for your merchants were the great ones of the earth, and all nations were deceived by your sorcery.
And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on earth.”
After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out, “Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for his judgments are true and just; for he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”
Once more they cried out, “Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up forever and ever.”
And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who was seated on the throne, saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!” And from the throne came a voice saying, “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, small and great.”
Comment: Babylon is completely dealt with – drowned in a deep sea! I’m not sure what this means as to the method of destruction but it surely means that Babylon’s reign is ended! And then there is a list of all the aspects of what is ‘drowned’ with her. Sadly in her was found the blood of many of those who were slaughtered because they were God’s people! In Hebrews ch 11 we have this passage (v36) Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated— of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. It is of these and thousands more who over the ages, and even up until this day, of whom it writes. They have had and are having their blood shed on the streets of wickedness!
And the shout from heaven? Praise God, Hallelujah!
And what will happen to the innocents at the time of the destruction?

How does one define innocent? Unless the Bible is wrong the division here isn’t between degrees of sinning because all are sinners – that is none are innocent – it is part of our inheritance from the actions of Adam and Eve (original sin). Rather, in this context innocent or guilty is between those who accepted God’s offer of free forgiveness and a renewed relationship of becoming a child of God (and not just a created being) and our Heavenly Father by repentance and humbly saying thank You for all that Jesus has done (and thus becoming innocent in the eyes of God). Our being good or evil is important to God (as is clearly seen particularly in the Psalms) but the even more important matter is becoming ‘innocent’ in the eyes of God by our acceptance/refusal to accept God’s offer in Jesus.
Innocent in a different context can mean something entirely different. I suspect that you are talking about the ‘innocent’ child new born or brought up under a system and/or parents both smearing the character or ignoring God. That is a problem to me and every thinking person. I find that I must leave that question in the Hands of God, the Judge – Whose Name is all of the following Holy, Loving, Just and Merciful! I have to deal with the written testimony, and dealing in the book of Revelation is starts out with ‘((ESV) The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place’. So I might not understand everything but I am not in the place where I feel capable of judging the Author.
We can discuss it further if you wish.
