“For Aaron’s sons you shall make coats and sashes and caps. You shall make them for glory and beauty. And you shall put them on Aaron your brother, and on his sons with him, and shall anoint them and ordain them and consecrate them, that they may serve me as priests. You shall make for them linen undergarments to cover their naked flesh. They shall reach from the hips to the thighs; and they shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they go into the tent of meeting or when they come near the altar to minister in the Holy Place, lest they bear guilt and die. This shall be a statute forever for him and for his offspring after him.
Comment: I can remember boys at school lying on the ground trying to look up girls dresses. Rather stupid as girls all wore ‘panties’ in those days! We arrive naked into this world, and we often see (as doctors and nurses at least) many naked people. But nakedness or near nakedness falls into 2 categories. Either the natural or the provocative. One of my sons (a man adopted from another country) has said to me recently that he is embarrassed by the way teenagers and particularly younger women dress. Because I lived in Africa for many years, I know that he has seen many naked kids, and the occasional demented person wandering the street naked, so he knows what nakedness and ‘private parts’ look like. This kind of nakedness does not offend him nor me. But too much sexually explicit, provocative dress-ware or even nakedness being used as advertising stunts and movie scenes is played before our children, youth and adults. Sex education in schools is as if humans were only animals and free to behave like a dog behaves rubbing his bits on your leg or chasing down the street after any bitch; or a bitch, which can bear in one litter, puppies of several males, giving herself to many dogs! The age of innocence is important and so is sexual purity! Moses had to climb up several steps to perform his sacrificial duties and for this reason alone, (and maybe in God’s eyes there were other reasons as well) to keep his private parts from public view was important!
Prayer: Thank You for giving us the joy of erotic love but please help us as humans to understand and practice it as You have so clearly in Your Word let us know what You desire. Thank You for speaking in a language which is clearly understood!
