8 And all the craftsmen among the workmen made the tabernacle with ten curtains. They were made of fine twined linen and blue and purple and scarlet yarns, with cherubim skillfully worked….. 10 He coupled five curtains to one another, and the other five curtains he coupled to one another. 11 He made loops of blue on the edge of the outermost curtain of the first set. Likewise he made them on the edge of the outermost curtain of the second set……. 18 And he made fifty clasps of bronze to couple the tent together that it might be a single whole. 19 And he made for the tent a covering of tanned rams’ skins and goatskins…… 25 For the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, he made twenty frames 26 and their forty bases of silver, two bases under one frame and two bases under the next frame…… 31 He made bars of acacia wood, five for the frames of the one side of the tabernacle, 32 and five bars for the frames of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the frames of the tabernacle at the rear westward…… 37 He also made a screen for the entrance of the tent, of blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, embroidered with needlework, 38 and its five pillars with their hooks. He overlaid their capitals, and their fillets were of gold, but their five bases were of bronze.
Comment: I have made a long passage short. If you wish to read it in full you can open up Exodus to chapter 36 and read the whole amount! I must confess that I get bored and impatient to get to the end when reading passages like this or the lists of Genealogies, for instance as found at the beginning of 1 Chronicles. I hate to say that and when pressing through I am delighted to find something, or even a name, which intrigues me or sets me thinking deeply! I do remember that all scripture is given by God’s inspiration, and that sometimes makes me uncomfortable when I say what I have said above.

Every part of the tabernacle was significantly designed by God as part of the ‘pathway’ leading to the Easter planned redemption, which is pivotal. Before Jesus there is much history to be told, much wisdom to be gained, and God spoke heaps both relevant to the people living in those years, but also looking forward to Jesus being on earth, the church (the present) time of history and what will happen when Jesus returns. We have talked about that as we have dealt with the specific orders given to Moses by God. I am glad to read of the progress and the effort put into it – and the following chapters let us review the purposes of the things placed in the Tabernacle. In summary what I see in this chapter is the beauty of the place which represents God’s ‘image’ of the Personality of Christ in Whom we will find the answers to all of our spiritual needs!
Proverbs: 24: 30 I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard …. it was all overgrown with thorns;…..I saw and considered it;….. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest…..and poverty will come upon you like a robber…..
Prayer: Help me to see what you mean me to see in Your Word, O Lord. In order to increase my understanding and to refine my walk with You. Pease!
