1 Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause
against an ungodly people,
from the deceitful and unjust man
deliver me!
2 For you are the God in whom I take refuge;
why have you rejected me?
Why do I go about mourning
because of the oppression of the enemy?
3 Send out your light and your truth;
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy hill
and to your dwelling!
4 Then I will go to the altar of God,
to God my exceeding joy,
and I will praise you with the lyre,
O God, my God.
5 Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God.
Comment: v1. Frequently I hear it said that you can’t believe anything these days – because of distortion and falsehoods in politics and the media of many varieties. Certainly AI can make things up! We need delivery from these distortions as did the Psalmist! v2. Depression isn’t a satisfactory answer, let us take refuge in God! v3. God has sent out His Truth to enlighten our longing, our ignorance and protect us from distortions and damnable lies! His sending out is in both His written Word (the Bible) and in His Living Word (Jesus). Sadly so many say they don’t believe the Word of God but don’t even read it much less ‘study’ it! v4. Worship, joyous worship of the living God is enriching and joy and hope productive! v5. This is the same as the closing verse of Ps 42. Hence my title! In Christ there is so much promise and Hope available – so why be cast down?
Proverbs 23: 18: “For surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.”
Prayer: You are my Security, my Hope, my Future lies in Your hands, my Father God!
