Psalm 48: 1-8….Think about Jerusalem!

Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King. Within her citadels God has made himself known as a fortress.
For behold, the kings assembled; they came on together. As soon as they saw it, they were astounded; they were in panic; they took to flight. Trembling took hold of them there, anguish as of a woman in labor.
By the east wind you shattered the ships of Tarshish.
As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God, which God will establish forever. Selah

Comment: I write ahead, trying to get about 3 months ahead, so that I’m prepared in case of ‘something’ laying me aside for a while! I mention that because about 48 hours ago the American President bombed the nuclear sites in Iran and Jerusalem is, at the moment, feeling the brunt of Iran’s response. I don’t know what is going to happen, you will reading this in September, have much more knowledge as to what the world’s response was! I do know this that the state of Israel (mainly Jews) feel the same about their city and although sadly being divided into many political and religious factions (from staunch orthodoxy to atheistic) still are proud of their heritage and their capital and their land! At the moment I don’t see some of the ‘gathered kings’ trembling in fear – maybe trembling angrily in jealousy and hate (anti-semitism has raised its horrific head again, even in Australia!). The Bible definitely says that God is in control, and that Jerusalem has a special place in His future plans. ‘Pray for Jerusalem’ is a call of scripture. This portion ends with ‘selah’, a call to stop and seriously consider!

Psalm 122: 6-7 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!”

Prayer: War is terrible our Father, but a part of life. Please especially protect those who are Your people and may we have Your peace in our lives. Amen.
