Psalm 48: 9-14….What about church?

Comment: I’m taking the liberty of transferring the Jewish ideas about God and worship a thousand years before Jesus, to the church in Australia today. We have a small group of Samoans who meet in our church weekly and they say that in Samoa the church attendance is about 97% weekly, which compares (and surveys can differ) where one survey says that 8% of Australians attend church at least once a month. About 60% of Australians call themselves ‘Christian’ on census forms.

9 We have thought on your steadfast love, O God,
in the midst of your temple.
– if this is really true of of those attend church I wonder what the others think about God’s steadfast love? Does it reach any deeper than thinking about daily provisions or the beauty of created things, Does it often reach to thinking about the Cross and that aspect of God’s great Love? What could/should we do about causing people to think?
10 As your name, O God,
so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth.
– I wonder what percentage of people think about God at all? Even though the Epistle called ‘Romans’ says that He is obvious in all that He has created.
Your right hand is filled with righteousness.
– Is there such a thing as righteous discipline or judgement, or answering ‘not interested’ with anything more than ‘meeting basic needs’ (common grace, which is allowed to every living thing)?
11 Let Mount Zion be glad!
Let the daughters of Judah rejoice
because of your judgments!
12 Walk about Zion, go around her,
number her towers,
13 consider well her ramparts,
go through her citadels,
– life is much richer than gourmet foods, physical wellbeing and travel – we need to think of all aspects of life even that death is part of living! Is it more than just a step into another ‘up or down’ life?
that you may tell the next generation that this is God,
– with even babies being put into government institutions and schools and Universities which are either silent about or even anti-God in their emphasis ,what do the next generation get taught???
our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.
– He is forever! But He does not force His guidance upon us. He has graciously offered us the right to choose, but our choosing has consequences!

Proverbs 22: 6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Prayer: Help me to be involved in every way in serving You and my fellow Australians
