But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.
Comment: These ungodly false teachers were spoken about by both Jesus and His apostles. They are not possessed by the Spirit of God and are out to destroy the uniqueness of believers and to make them just a different group of ‘worldly’ people; Thus making them little different from others, instead of being the New Creatures whom God wants to serve Him.
God’s people are meant to be: –
- increasing in their faith.
- Holy Spirit led and prayerful
- waiting for the return of Jesus which will open into complete salvation
- merciful encouragers of doubters
- eager to snatch people from the fires of hell, even while hating the life styles which are leading them there.
Prayer: Let me not grow weary in the fight to which You are calling me, O Lord!

Thank you Barry, for your comments on this passage. Every day we are in a battle against the one who is trying to snatch our souls from the Lord Jesus who came to save us. Ephesians 6:10-18 is a good way to combat the devil. We need to put on the “armour of God” every day, to fight against the enemy of our souls. God bless you.
