But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.
For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel. For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.
Comment: I keep hearing people say tolerance is a high virtue. There is ‘my truth’ and ‘your truth’ and we must accept each other as if both ‘truths’ are correct. Does that mean that there is no absolute truth? Certainly in relation to the Christian gospel Paul does not agree. Paul will not say ‘ok’ to any alterations to, or rather perversions of, the gospel which was preached to the Galatians and in which they had believed. Twice he used the strong word ‘accursed’.
There was no way Paul was prepared to be conciliatory in this matter. God had both on the Cross and to Paul directly revealed the truth of the gospel and he was determined to be a God-pleaser not a man-pleaser, even if it put him in a different corner from those who were seeking to pervert the pure gospel of Jesus.
Prayer: Keep me true to Your gospel and You, O Christ.

Thank you Barry for your comments on this passage. Once again Paul’s words bring us back to the point which is that we must study God’s Word continually, and make sure that the truth we are reading, and the truth we are speaking aligns with the Word of God and what He has given to us. God does not tolerate sin, and neither must we. God bless you.
