Micah 5: 10-15….Changes are required!

And in that day, declares the LORD,
I will cut off your horses from among you
and will destroy your chariots;
and I will cut off the cities of your land
and throw down all your strongholds;
and I will cut off sorceries from your hand,
and you shall have no more tellers of fortunes;
and I will cut off your carved images
and your pillars from among you,
and you shall bow down no more
to the work of your hands;
and I will root out your Asherah images from among you
and destroy your cities.
And in anger and wrath I will execute vengeance
on the nations that did not obey.

Comment: What was it going to be like, in God’s plan when eventually they returned to their promised land?

  • Chariots came from Egypt and showed the Jews’ reliance on outside help rather than trusting God. They were to go.
  • They were to live in peace not relying on fortifications (strongholds).
  • No more sorcery.
  • No more idol worship or worship of man made false gods.
  • The cities (villages) which had been built up around these idols (for money making and convenience) would be destroyed.
  • God expects obedience!

Prayer: Help me to make Your goals, my goals, for living, O God.

  1. Thank you Barry for your comments on this passage. I believe it brings us back to the first and second commandments in Exodus 20:3-6. “You shall have no other gods before Me.” Also v.4. “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.” God bless you.
