Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept. But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it.
After these things he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. And they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them.
Comment: This is a very short account of the post resurrection meeting between Jesus and His followers. He does describe the meetings of Jesus with Mary, who hastens to tell others of the group and Mark refers to the meeting with Cleopas and his companion, which is greatly expanded in Luke’s gospel. And tomorrow we will hear the commands which Jesus gave to His followers as to how they were to act.
Prayer: Thank You that we serve a Risen Saviour!
Thank you Barry for your comments on this passage. “Christ is risen! Hallelujah!” But those who were told this good news did not believe it! Our human minds cannot cope with something which we have not seen for ourselves. Even today, there are many who still do not believe it. But to those who do believe, there opens up a new way of life, a new way of living with Jesus in our heart. “He Lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today!” God bless you.
