A day for the building of your walls!
In that day the boundary shall be far extended.
In that day they will come to you,
from Assyria and the cities of Egypt,
and from Egypt to the River,
from sea to sea and from mountain to mountain.
But the earth will be desolate
because of its inhabitants,
for the fruit of their deeds.
Shepherd your people with your staff,
the flock of your inheritance,
who dwell alone in a forest
in the midst of a garden land;
let them graze in Bashan and Gilead
as in the days of old.
As in the days when you came out of the land of Egypt,
I will show them marvellous things.
Comment: The time of judgement is over; the lesson has been learned; Micah pictures the rebuilding, post-discipline of the nation. He sees the city rebuilt with extended boundaries, He sees people travelling from afar. It is now their turn to be humbled as they experience the judging hand of God. Meanwhile Israel will know the sort of blessings they knew in the land when they first arrived there. Their political and religious leaders are ordered to care well for the people as God pours out His blessings upon them. Every generation has to choose their walk in this world.
Prayer: Help this present generation to learn their lessons before they experience the fury of Your discipline, O Father. I confess that my generation have failed You pitifully.
Thank you Barry for your comments on this passage. 2 Chronicles 7:14 comes to my mind. “If my people, who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My Face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I heave from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land.” God bless you.
