Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
Comment: As you walk as a Christian remember – be prayerful, be thankful, buy up opportunities to be a witness to Christ. As you walk amongst non-Christians be gracious and let your living have the tasty, cleansing and healing qualities of salt. Everyone needs to be dealt with differently.
Prayer: Help me to know what being in, but not being of, the world means, please.
Thank you Barry for your comments on this passage. A very clear and meaningful few verses, which really don’t need a detailed explanation as they are easy to follow. “Let your wards be seasoned with salt” is a very descriptive way of saying, ‘make sure that what you do measures up with what you say.’ Or ‘actions speak louder than words’ so be careful and wise. God bless you.
