2 Peter 1: 12-14…. Forgive me, but I won’t shut up!

Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder, since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.

Comment: This is a very short reading. Peter simply says ‘I’m going to die soon, as Jesus predicted, but I want to still be heard speaking from the grave!’ ‘You’ve got a good grip on the truth, but I want to see you established completely in what is the real stuff of life.’ ‘Sit up and listen!’ I guess the above is not a translation but my bringing it up to modern English for 2022!

Prayer: Help me to keep ‘pressing on the upward way’!

  1. Thank you Barry for your comments on this passage. We all need reminders. That is why most people use a diary and write down things they need to remember to do etc. Or some write notes on their Calendar to remind them about appointments etc. If we don’t do this, we can easily forget things we need to be reminded about. The same is true for our spiritual life. We need to be reminded of what the Lord has done for us, and what He will continue to do for us when we follow Him and trust and obey Him. The Word of God is the Will of God, and the Will of God is the Word of God. God bless you.
