* For I am ready to fall,
and my pain is ever before me.
I confess my iniquity;
I am sorry for my sin.
** But my foes are vigorous, they are mighty,
and many are those who hate me wrongfully.
Those who render me evil for good
accuse me because I follow after good.
*** Do not forsake me, O LORD!
O my God, be not far from me!
Make haste to help me,
O Lord, my salvation!
Comment: The ending of Psalm 38 has clear portions. I think it sets out clearly what we all need to do when/if we feel that we are ‘God forsaken’. This is not popular thinking in today’s world when we think ourselves the masters of our own fate. How often do we hear ‘you can do/be whatever you want to be’? – Which is not my experience of life!
- * acknowledge our situation and confess our sin.
- ** Be honest with God about our present situation as we see it.
- *** Plead with God for His speedy intervention, clearly acknowledging in truth who He is to you.
Prayer: Keep revealing to me the way of holiness, following You, my Master.
