Psalm 50: 1-6….Listen. Look! What do you hear and see?

The Mighty One, God the LORD,
speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to its setting.
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,
God shines forth.
Our God comes; he does not keep silence;
before him is a devouring fire,
around him a mighty tempest.
He calls to the heavens above
and to the earth, that he may judge his people:
“Gather to me my faithful ones,
who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!”
The heavens declare his righteousness,
for God himself is judge! Selah

Comment: What does ‘the perfection of beauty’ mean? I doubt that it is the language used of the most beautiful lady dressed in fantastic royal robes. I fancy that it is talking of presence and power. It is not describing a titular Head but the powerful commander of the whole of creation. He claims His right to Judge and is described as preceded by a blazing fire and surrounded by a mighty storm. He is able to judge and He calls both heaven and earth to Judgement! Are you up to date in your covenant to sacrifice? Go before your Judge knowing that He is universally acclaimed as righteous!

Prayer: I dare not come before You for Judgement without forgiveness, O God. Thank You for Jesus and His cleansing Power.
