Comment: The times are very different from Amos’ day to now, I have put in the text how things might be announced this age!
Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O people of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up out of the land of Egypt:*** I know that you don’t think that I have much control these days but I am the Creator!
“You only have I known
of all the families of the earth;
therefore I will punish you
for all your iniquities.****I’m not speaking to Jews only because after My Son Jesus died to make it possible for all people to know me. With privilege comes responsibility!
“Do two walk together,
unless they have agreed to meet?****I can’t get anywhere with you unless you agree to listen to Me.
Does a lion roar in the forest,
when he has no prey?
Does a young lion cry out from his den,
if he has taken nothing?
Does a bird fall in a snare on the earth,
when there is no trap for it?**** Do you think that things happen without a cause? Am I not in control?
Does a snare spring up from the ground,
when it has taken nothing?
Is a trumpet blown in a city,
and the people are not afraid?*****Surely you’re disturbed when you listen to the World News and you see how your society is going to pot?
Does disaster come to a city,
unless the LORD has done it?**** do you think that I AM a toothless tiger?
“For the Lord GOD does nothing
without revealing his secret
to his servants the prophets.**** Read your Bible!
The lion has roared;
who will not fear?
The Lord GOD has spoken;
who can but prophesy?”**** With what is going on in the world, do you expect Me to remain quiet?
Prayer: Help me to hear Your speaking, O God!
