Amos 8: 1-6…..And there is more…

This is what the Lord GOD showed me: behold, a basket of summer fruit. And he said, “Amos, what do you see?” And I said, “A basket of summer fruit.” Then the LORD said to me, Comment: At the end of summer there was little fruit remaining to be picked. What is going to happen now to satisfy their taste for delicacies?
“The end has come upon my people Israel;
I will never again pass by them.
The songs of the temple shall become wailings in that day,”
declares the Lord GOD.
“So many dead bodies!”
“They are thrown everywhere!”
“Silence!”Comment: God is not to going to go around dispersing undeserved blessings – wailings rather than joyful worship will issue from the temple; some are screaming at all the slaughtered lying around, others are saying ‘enough, enough keep quiet – silence!‘
Hear this, you who trample on the needy
and bring the poor of the land to an end,
saying, “When will the new moon be over,
that we may sell grain? Comment: ‘You aren’t sincere in your worship, your minds are fixed on getting wealthy.’
And the Sabbath,
that we may offer wheat for sale,
that we may make the ephah small and the shekel great
and deal deceitfully with false balances,
that we may buy the poor for silver
and the needy for a pair of sandals
and sell the chaff of the wheat?” Comment: They wished for the sabbath day to speed by so that by their injustices and cheating dishonesty could be practiced and they could get richer!

Prayer: Teach me honesty, integrity and humble, sincere confession and repentance please.
