Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do.
Let your garments be always white. Let not oil be lacking on your head.
Enjoy life with the wife whom you love, all the days of your vain life that he has given you under the sun, because that is your portion in life and in your toil at which you toil under the sun. Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.
Comment: Most books have an introduction, present their substance and at the end have a summary. There are still three chapters to come, much of which is written as proverbs, which are meant to stimulate thinking and seeking answers. then there is the epilogue. I think that this is the beginning of the concluding part of the book. And what does he say here? i) enjoy doing what you need to for physical well being -eat, drink, enjoy life. ii) Dress well and be clean. iii) Get married and live in love with your wife as long as you live. iv) Don’t be lazy, rather be energetic in work thinking, seeking knowledge and wisdom. And do all of the above because you have only one life on earth. He doesn’t mention here what Sheol is about but states that it comes next!
Prayer: Help me, please, to live as You want me to live.
