Proverbs 8: 12-21….The End-results of Being Wise

I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.
The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil.
Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.
I have counsel and sound wisdom; I have insight; I have strength.
By me kings reign, and rulers decree what is just; by me princes rule, and nobles, all who govern justly.
I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.
Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness.
My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold, and my yield than choice silver.
I walk in the way of righteousness, in the paths of justice, granting an inheritance to those who love me, and filling their treasuries.

Comment: What a house hold! In one place are dwelling, as described here, wisdom, prudence, knowledge, discretion, counsel, insight and strength. What a household! And wisdom is very strongly opposed to (hates) pride, arrogance, the way of evil, and perverted speech. And all this comes about because the Fear of God leads to hatred of all that is evil. I hear some say that this must be a house of ‘goody goodies!’ and thereby infer they are a joyless bunch. But how wrong is that assumption, because the fruit produced in the garden if this household is better than gold and wealth; The ‘I’ of the last sentence in this portion of Proverbs is Wisdom – she (?he Jesus) waits to be found by the diligent searcher and adds to the searcher the ability to walk in justice and promises a treasury filled with things much more precious than gold! They find themselves living rightly in the sight of God – who promises great things both now and in the here-after. A here-after which none can avoid!

Prayer: Thank You, Father God for inviting us to live in the same dwelling as wisdom and her friends!
