Exodus 26: 31-37… Divisions in the meeting structure which was to be built.

“And you shall make a veil of blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen. It shall be made with cherubim skillfully worked into it. And you shall hang it on four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold, with hooks of gold, on four bases of silver. And you shall hang the veil from the clasps, and bring the ark of the testimony in there within the veil. And the veil shall separate for you the Holy Place from the Most Holy. You shall put the mercy seat on the ark of the testimony in the Most Holy Place. And you shall set the table outside the veil, and the lampstand on the south side of the tabernacle opposite the table, and you shall put the table on the north side.
“You shall make a screen for the entrance of the tent, of blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, embroidered with needlework. And you shall make for the screen five pillars of acacia, and overlay them with gold. Their hooks shall be of gold, and you shall cast five bases of bronze for them.

Comment: Upon entering the Tabernacle there were 3 sections to be seen, In the outer court yard there were, as we will see tomorrow, things to be placed. But from this outer court as seen before there was a partition into which only certain people were able to enter. Today we read of a very elaborate and beautiful curtain or veil to be constructed. The purpose was to separate off the ‘place where God dwelt’. This is of course a symbolic representation as God fills the heavens and as the Bible says ‘the earth is His foot-stall’. But God is Holy and needs be to approached at His call and as He dictates. Before Jesus came and died as the perfect sacrifice for sin this most Holy place could rarely be entered into. The details of this entry are given later. At Jesus’ death the gospels tell us the curtain was rent from top to bottom (thus seen as an act of God) making it possible for those who trust in Jesus to enter directly into the presence of God! When we were last reading the book of Exodus we saw what was to be inside this dividing curtain. Today we read of what was to be in the what was the middle portion of the tabernacle,

Prayer: You are not a god of little things, but the Creator God over all. Help me to understand this and worship You, as Your Living Word (Jesus) and Written Word (the Bible) reveal. Amen
