A gracious woman gets honor,
and violent men get riches.
A man who is kind benefits himself,
but a cruel man hurts himself.
The wicked earns deceptive wages,
but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward.
Whoever is steadfast in righteousness will live,
but he who pursues evil will die.
Those of crooked heart are an abomination to the LORD,
but those of blameless ways are his delight.
Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished,
but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.
Comment: I have underlined 5 words in the text above. 1. Woman – note it doesn’t say women, rather it says ‘a’ and adds the the adjective ‘gracious’, before it promises honor. The problem is that modern feminism tells women that they will be better off if they have many, formally considered, male characteristics. The gracious womanly woman has much to offer to our modern society. The previously considered feminine characteristics and now often considered signs of weakness have much to boldly declare when clearly evident in gracious women. 2. Men – are first dealt with as a group. When testosterone becomes a master instead of a servant all hell can break loose in violence, both domestic and in society generally! Sadly it badly hurts the perpetrator himself both immediately and in the future judgement! 3. The wicked – neither sex is given special preference for both can be be wicked – rebellious to God and to society! They might get things which immediately seem good and profitable, but this apparent good success is deceptive! 4. Those who practice righteousness are often but not always considered as weak and ineffective! But righteousness is that which makes an individual, a family, a society and a nation strong! 5. Be assured – The two lines in italics in the above passage describe the outcomes of following the two different life styles -wickedness and righteousness. It is ultimately supremely important what The Judge (The LORD) thinks!
