23 The wicked accepts a bribe in secret to pervert the ways of justice.
24 The discerning sets his face toward wisdom, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth. – very foolish to want everything and not to be aiming at a real goal!
25 A foolish son is a grief to his father and bitterness to her who bore him.
26 To impose a fine on a righteous man is not good, nor to strike the noble for their uprightness. – very foolish!
27 Whoever restrains his words has knowledge,and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. – very wise! cool not a fool!
28 Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent. – at last a wise fool!
Comment: Above I have played around with the word ‘fool’. Remember that in the Bible the word ‘fool’ is used to translate a number of concepts. In Proverbs the word is different from the word ‘simple’. Here in Proverbs it tends to refer to a person who chooses his own thinking above Godly wisdom!
Prayer: Again Father I pray for Your sort of Wisdom for I dare not trust my own.
