Isaiah 3: 1-12….Is this the Loving God speaking?

1 For behold, the Lord GOD of hosts is taking away from Jerusalem and from Judah
support and supply, all support of bread, and all support of water;
2 the mighty man and the soldier, the judge and the prophet, the diviner and the elder,
3 the captain of fifty and the man of rank, the counselor and the skillful magician and the expert in charms.
– It sounds as if Jerusalem might be under siege and starved of necessities and even worse their army may have been totally defeated! But it is God orchestrated even if the enemy’s intents are evil – an attitude for which they are. responsible!
4 And I will make boys their princes, and infants shall rule over them.
5 And the people will oppress one another, every one his fellow and every one his neighbor; the youth will be insolent to the elder, and the despised to the honorable.
6 For a man will take hold of his brother in the house of his father, saying: “You have a cloak; you shall be our leader, and this heap of ruins shall be under your rule”;
7 in that day he will speak out, saying: “I will not be a healer; in my house there is neither bread nor cloak; you shall not make me leader of the people.”
– there are child prodigies but that is not of what this is speaking about! And those called to be leaders because they have at least a bit left recognize that they are not the appropriate leader. In fact they are probably terrified of being in that position!
8 For Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen, because their speech and their deeds are against the LORD, defying his glorious presence.
– Is this replicated in leadership decisions these days? People teaching anti-God lessons in schools – e.g. denying God as the Creator; pride flags in classrooms; forbidding people to even silently pray on the streets against abortion and for the about to be murdered human being!
9 For the look on their faces bears witness against them; they proclaim their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! For they have brought evil on themselves.
– see the above comment!
10 Tell the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.
– It is not an indiscriminate judgement.
11 Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for what his hands have dealt out shall be done to him.
12 My people—infants are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, your guides mislead you and they have swallowed up the course of your paths.
– talk to modern teachers about children oppressing them! God isn’t against women but here He seems to support male (not wonky, wokish, effeminate, but masculine) male leadership.

Proverbs 16:12, “It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness, for the throne is established by righteousness.”

Prayer: Teach me well that when I point a finger accusatively at another that three fingers point back at me, please!

  1. Another forceful passage. “here He seems to support male (not wonky, wokish, effeminate, but masculine) male leadership.” Your comment does sort of come as a barrier to any slightly opposite opinion.

    1. I have made a major error in theat I said this passage was from Isaiah 2 & it was in fact from Isaiah 3! I guess you picked that up and corrected me in your thinking. My commentary was on ch 3!

      If you disagree please feel free to say wherein you disagree. I am not saying that ‘He does’ but I have said ‘He seems to support’. The capital “H” is because the quote has God speaking. The passage doesn’t refer to women but it does refer to the leadership as. being ‘And I will make boys their princes, and infants shall rule over them….the youth will be insolent to the elder, and the despised to the honorable.’ My comment seems very relevant to these passages – I said ‘God isn’t against women but here He seems to support male (not wonky, wokish, effeminate, but masculine) male leadership.’ Which part of this comment distresses you? I would love to hear to see if I said something which I didn’t mean and correct it!
