Ps 100: 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
106 I have sworn an oath and confirmed it,
to keep your righteous rules.
107 I am severely afflicted;
give me life, O LORD, according to your word!
108 Accept my freewill offerings of praise, O LORD,
and teach me your rules.
109 I hold my life in my hand continually,
but I do not forget your law.
110 The wicked have laid a snare for me,
but I do not stray from your precepts.
111 Your testimonies are my heritage forever,
for they are the joy of my heart.
112 I incline my heart to perform your statutes
forever, to the end.
2 Timothy 2: 15 Do your best to present yourself (Study to shew thyself – KJV) to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 16 But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, 17 and their talk will spread like gangrene.
Comment: I remember, years ago, sitting on a committee to assess a candidate for the Ministry. He was in his twenties and the son of a Minister. When it came my turn to ask questions, I asked him several questions about what certain books of the Bible were about. Like the difficult man which people tell me that I can be, I started with a minor prophet “Amos’. When I got an answer indicating ‘no idea’, I went to what I thought was a simple OT book “Genesis’. The answer was as before – ‘no idea’. So I thought, seeking to get some answer in the positive, I said ‘tell me about one of the gospels?’ I will never forget his positive answer -‘I don’t know. That is why I’m going to Theological College!” Psalm 119 is all ‘gobleedee-goop’ if David didn’t know his Torah and as many other books that were accepted by the Nation of Israel as legit before he came on the scene! We encourage people to go to school for years, take an apprenticeship, go to University even to go beyond first to get higher degrees and doctorates, but Biblically they remain infantile! nay, even babyish at the ‘goo and gah’ stage Biblically! Even if people read the Bible and think about it that is good – better than many church attenders do seriously! I can remember asking a medical student one day, as he was watching me operate on a leg, ‘Have you studied the anatomy of the leg yet?’ (I, as a student, with all of my year studied the lower limb by dissecting out every muscle, nerve and vessel for 3 months – six students to a limb!) Confidently he answered ‘yes’. So asked him how long it took. ‘One evening’ he said. I was flabbergasted! I wasn’t able to go on and ask him ‘Have you studied the Bible?’ But I will ask you ‘Do you study the Bible?’
Proverbs 8: 18-19 – Riches and honor are with me (wisdom), enduring wealth (not just money!) and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold, and my yield than choice silver.
Prayer: I have heard Your word, O Lord, that You are willing to accept me because of what Jesus has done for me. Thank You, thank You! I am now Your child and desire to be and do what You want of me. Please help to know and understand and love Your Way!
