Psalm 77: 1-9….Does God always hear when we pray?

1 I cry aloud to God,
aloud to God, and he will hear me.
2 In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord;
in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying;
my soul refuses to be comforted.
If we put the underlined phrases into a sentence, it reads ‘I cry aloud to God, He will hear me. I seek the Lord, my hand is stretched out without wearying; my soul refuses to be comforted. I’m praying to God and I’m sure (hope) that He will hear me. I pray ceaselessly but I’m not comforted at all. Is that how you read it?
3 When I remember God, I moan;
when I meditate, my spirit faints. Selah
4 You hold my eyelids open; –
the person who is praying cannot sleep!
I am so troubled that I cannot speak. –
The words in red convince us that the Prayer hasn’t yet reached God or found the desired request answered!
5 I consider the days of old,
the years long ago.
6 I said, “Let me remember my song in the night;
let me meditate in my heart.”
He thinks about previous times when he has prayed and found an answer! But an answer hasn’t come this time!
Then my spirit made a diligent search:
– I think that this means that he was honest with himself! And he ends up questioning what is going on!
7 “Will the Lord spurn forever,
and never again be favourable?

8 Has his steadfast love forever ceased?
Are his promises at an end for all time?
9 Has God forgotten to be gracious?
Has he in anger shut up his compassion?
” Selah
Thinking about that I await tomorrow when we look at the last portion of this Psalm. I hope that the pray-er finds God and an answer!

Lamentations 3: 25-26 – The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

Prayer: Thank You that You do hear us when we pray.
