11 The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours;
the world and all that is in it, you have founded them.
12 The north and the south, you have created them;
Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name. – Mount Tabor to the south and Mount Hermon in the North are both seen as Holy Places for the Jews. There are many things which have happened on the mountains signifying God’s blessing. They are mentioned in Judges, Jeremiah and frequently in the Psalms as places where God has done great things! I must confess the first thought that came into my mind as I read ‘The north and the south, you have created them’ I thought of the poles! These two mountains were symbolically the poles in Jewish thinking!
13 You have a mighty arm;
strong is your hand, high your right hand. – Is the Psalmist here fancying God punching the sky with His right arm signifying a great success in what He, God, has done for His people?
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;
steadfast love and faithfulness go before you. – Thank God that these four fantastic qualities are the standard of our Great Majestic God!!!
15 Blessed are the people who know the festal shout,
who walk, O LORD, in the light of your face,
16 who exult in your name all the day
and in your righteousness are exalted.
17 For you are the glory of their strength;
by your favor our horn is exalted. – does this mean the horn of a rhinoceros’s strength? or the ram’s horn blown in triumph?
18 For our shield belongs to the LORD,
our king to the Holy One of Israel.
I love rainbows, not as they represent the LBTQ+ ‘evil rubbish’, but in the ‘Noah and God’s covenant’ meaning! I can see in all the various attitudes of God’s people as they seek to praise Jehovah the richness and promise of a great rainbow of enriching qualities! How sad that people don’t lift their voices in joint worship and individual daily living expression of our gratitude to our Mighty God who shields us!
Genesis 9: 14,15 – When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh.
Prayer: Thank You that even in the rough and tough of life, You are absolutely dependable.
