Proverbs 1: 28-33

Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer;
they will seek me diligently but will not find me.
Because they hated knowledge
and did not choose the fear of the LORD,
would have none of my counsel
and despised all my reproof,
therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way,
and have their fill of their own devices.
For the simple are killed by their turning away,
and the complacency of fools destroys them;

but whoever listens to me will dwell secure
and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.”

Those who want to define God as ‘LOVE’, and nothing more than love, will not like this passage. Let’s not believe that God is not Love, for He is, but the book (Bible) which powerfully pushes his Love and Mercy and Grace shows Him with many facets. His characteristics include justice, jealousy, wrath etc.
Hating knowledge (i.e. His expressed revelation of Life not in this place academic knowledge ); refusing to fear; despising his corrections; turning away; and complacency are all described as poisonous fruits. And eating them will have dire results.

At the end of the passage hope is held out – listen and be blessed. Listening here includes action in response to the heard matters. God wants to bless!

Prayer: I ask for courage to walk the hard way if it is the right way. Amen
