Galatians 6: 11-18….A quick summary.

See with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who would force you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. For even those who are circumcised do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.
From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.

Comment: It is now me, not an amanuensis writing, but me, Paul. Remember what I’ve said about circumcision! Those who are demanding it of you, just want more followers and to avoid persecution from the Jews who don’t want you to live in the freedom which Christ offers you! The Cross is the message, the law counts for nothing salvation wise! I’ve been beaten for sticking to this message, give me a little sympathy, for my only desire is that you experience the Grace which Jesus offers! Good Bye, my beloved brothers!

(Remember being circumcised to a Jew meant the sign of Judaism. A proselyte had to be circumcised.)

Prayer: May I run my race to my end as faithfully as Paul did to his agonizing death, O my Father.

  1. Thank you Barry for your comments on this passage. Boasting in the Cross of the Lord Jesus Christ was the most important thing to Paul, and this is an example we should follow. We are created as new creatures in Christ when we come to the Cross and lay down our life, deny self, and follow Jesus. God bless you.
