Micah 4: 6-8….The promise of a HOPE to be fulfilled.

In that day, declares the LORD,
I will assemble the lame
and gather those who have been driven away
and those whom I have afflicted;
and the lame I will make the remnant,
and those who were cast off, a strong nation;
and the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion
from this time forth and forevermore.
And you, O tower of the flock,
hill of the daughter of Zion,
to you shall it come,
the former dominion shall come,
kingship for the daughter of Jerusalem.

Comment: The list of good things promised in yesterday’s passage are extended even further. I’m not surprised if many said, at least under their breath, something like ‘That’s pie in the sky, just preacher talk’. But Micah seems to have sensed their doubt for he, I’m sure, is speaking with great emphasis ‘to you shall it come‘. God’s promises he affirms are certain to be fulfilled, even if they and we still have to wait a little longer. Remember that Peter in his epistle says That one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day’. ‘Soon’ must be seen in light of this!

Prayer: I’m not patient by nature but help me to wait patiently for Your promise to be seen. Even if happens after I pass into the beyond, My Lord.

  1. Thank you Barry for your comments on this passage. “God is patient towards you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 1 Peter 3:8-9. God is not limited to time and space as we humans are. “His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts. For as His ways are higher than our ways, so are His thoughts higher than our thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9. His promises are sure, we can trust Him. God bless you.
