The day of your watchmen, of your punishment, has come;
now their confusion is at hand.
Put no trust in a neighbour;
have no confidence in a friend;
guard the doors of your mouth
from her who lies in your arms;
for the son treats the father with contempt,
the daughter rises up against her mother,
the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.
But as for me, I will look to the LORD;
I will wait for the God of my salvation;
my God will hear me.
Comment: In times of great stress, as we have seen with the recent pandemic, normal living relationships have been ruined. Thus we have seen significant rises in divorce, mental breakdown, suicide, rates. Micah asks ‘who can one trust?’ And he then reaffirms that he will stay waiting for and be faithful to his God. It couldn’t have been easy for him, but he had found the real answer to the situation!
Prayer: Help me to find Micah’s answer for myself, O my God.
Thank you Barry for your comments on this passage. Trusting in God is the best One to choose because we know that He is True, Honest, Reliable, Kind, Generous, Forgiving, and He loves us no matter what we’ve done. We can depend on God. Even in our own family, there are some we know we can’t trust or depend upon, which is sad. No human is able to be trusted the way we can trust our God. God is our rock, our refuge and our fortress. Praise His Name. God bless you.
