Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous!
Praise befits the upright.
Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre;
make melody to him with the harp of ten strings!
Sing to him a new song;
play skilfully on the strings, with loud shouts.
For the word of the LORD is upright,
and all his work is done in faithfulness.
He loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of the steadfast love of the LORD.
Comment: Without being critical of either, there is obviously a difference between the services of a very Charismatic and a dour Scottish Presbyterian service. This is not a comment on the sincerity of either but the tone of the service. Today the writer of this Psalm is jumping over the moon with great joy! There is singing, music, praise and even a skilfully played new song associated with it seems like many ‘amens’ and ‘hallelujahs’. And what is the cause of all of this? God’s love of righteousness and justice; because of his world wide and steadfast love! Surely this constitutes a great cause for a great celebration!
Prayer: Against the background of the often daily grind of life, help me to rejoice in the eternal truth of Your character, O God.
