By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap;
he puts the deeps in storehouses.
Let all the earth fear the LORD;
let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!
For he spoke, and it came to be;
he commanded, and it stood firm.
The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
the plans of his heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!
Comment: The writer of this psalm turns from his excited thankfulness and worship of God to talking about one of the major reasons that we are given in the Bible to worship God. That is, that He is the Creator! And those who follow Him are truly blessed. These days in many schools and places of education (?) it is forbidden to teach that God is the Creator. I know that there are those who say that God created by evolution, but by most people very quickly the background of evolution becomes ‘chance’, and God is placed in the rubbish bin of their discarded thoughts. In the middle of this short section of Psalm 33 ( I have outlined it in italics in the above reading) God underlines that He in the end has the final say and His plan will be fulfilled ! It is good to be part of His nation, a nation of faithful followers.
Prayer: Even if it is not popular, please help me to live by Your Word to mankind.
